Democratising wine culture through Western Australia’s first community-driven platform.

CLIENT Top Up Wines

An award winning site that breaks down the cellar door

Top-Up Wines is redefining wine culture with WA’s first public wine vote using a platform that turns wine criticism into conversation. Top-Up is inviting every enthusiast to join in.

Our solution started with wanting to make it incredibly simple for wine lovers to discover, rate, and celebrate their favourites across the state’s regions. We wanted to ensure the platform itself embodied that cultural shift. Inspired by the spirit of craft beer and it’s strength in WA, we built an experience that brings the social energy of a tasting room online.

A striking 3D bottle animation sets the tone. AJAX-powered voting and seamless transitions turn browsers into active participants in WA’s wine story. A smart filtering system makes exploration feel natural, whether hunting for that perfect bottle to share with friends or uncovering unexpected gems in new regions.

"This was fun! The crew at Start immediately grasped the vibe and feel of Top Up Wines, but also the functionality that was required to make it work. In short, they created a site that looked the part without compromising on purpose. The voting and searchability are seamless, and the back end is well set up for future growth. The best part was, we had fun doing it. They pushed boundaries and challenged my ideas, while taking on feedback and adapting that into the work. If you love the site, pour yourself a glass of local vino and vote for your favourite West Australian drops at Top Up Wines."
