A digital home for Fremantle's creative heart
Where art meets everyone.
Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre has been the beating heart of Freo’s creative community since 1973, running everything from ceramics workshops and live music to major exhibitions and artist residencies out of one of the most iconic heritage buildings in the country.
When WFAC launched a new brand identity built around the idea that art is for everyone, they needed a website that could carry that same energy. We designed and built the digital experience from the ground up – dissolving scroll transitions, responsive hover states, and dynamic sliders that give the program real movement and presence on screen. But the deeper challenge was structural. WFAC runs over 150 workshops per term across adults and kids, alongside exhibitions, concerts, a shop, residencies, and Moores Building Art Space. The old site buried all of it behind a backend that was nearly impossible for their internal team to manage. We rebuilt the navigation around a scalable menu and dynamic filtering system so visitors can actually find what they’re looking for – by discipline, age group, duration, or availability – and gave WFAC’s internal team a custom WordPress backend they can update without needing a developer in the room.
We also ran a series of WFAC’s existing imagery through AI enhancement, transforming older photos (originally captured on Androids & Phones) into professional, cinematic-quality visuals that sit properly alongside the new brand. Our relationship with WFAC is ongoing – we provide continuous web support and are currently delivering SEO work alongside their internal team to grow the site’s organic visibility and keep things moving forward.
This is one of those projects where the work matters beyond the brief. WFAC is a WA institution and the kind of place that makes Fremantle what it is. We’re proud to be part of keeping it front and centre.
